On Wednesday night around 11 pm went into Providence's (hospital) triage to see if I was potentionally in labor. I was having contractions every 2-5 minutes but they were painless. I had an appointment the day before and I was 4 cm dilated and 95% thinned out, so doctor said I should be ready and aware of the possibility of Xavi coming any day now.
At Triage we discovered I was 5 cm dilated, and 100% thinned out. But the contractions were weak, and my water had not yet broken so they sent me home. But before leaving they made an appointment for me to come in Thursday morning because the baby's heart rate kept dropping every time I had a contraction and so they wanted to monitor him and make sure everything was alright.
Thursday morning I went in, around 11:30 and to my surprise they said I was in labor! I could barely feel my contractions, but the baby's heart rate was dropping seriously low every time I contracted and so they wanted to hurry him out! I called Israel and he left the college right away, thankfully it's only 10 minutes away from the hospital. We both were a bit flustered and panicky as it felt so unexpected!
They sent me up to my room, they broke my water and things excelled from there! My contractions were still painless untill I dialated to about 8 and a half cm. I was chirpy, bubbly, and cracking jokes with everyone. The nurses were telling me to keep it a secret that I'm not in any pain because the other momma's at the hospital would get jealous haha!
Suddenly around 9 cm, the contractions HURT. My original plan was to go naturally, but every contraction was so painful that I could barely breath, which made poor LO's heart rate drop dangerously low every time. Perfect Israel was so supportive the entire time, and he's the only person I didn't feel annoyed with when things got really hard. They quickly got me an epidural which was a miracle worker I swear! I was able to control my breathing, and thus help Xavi's heart rate stay at a safe rate.
The on call doctor came in and checked my cervix agian and turns out I was 10 cm! They gave me another half hour to let my contractions happen, and then at 8:02 we started pushing!
Xavi was born at 8:19 pm, and weighed 7 lbs 7 ounces, and was 20 inches long ♡ Israel and I were blessed with the most beautiful and perfect little prince.
